Mikey

Mikey is a 13.5-pound Shih Tzu that was given to Charles and Betty Stallings eleven years ago when their second daughter left for college and their oldest daughter thought that they would be suffering from the empty nest syndrome.

These stories and observations were shared with Charles by Mikey as he sat on Charles' lap at the computer.

Charles has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin and 31 years of work experience as a physicist and manager. He is now retired. His last position was General Manager of a $30M/year Research and Development Company. His other current volunteer positions include being a director of two international professional organizations. He has spent many hours attending volunteer meetings and conferences, mostly as an accompanying person. While raising their family, the Stallings often volunteered as a family in such programs as Special Olympics and The Berkeley Foreign Host Program.
