Ever wonder who invented the training exercise called "brainstorming"? It was Ronald Lippett and Eva Schindler-Rainman, who were internationally recognized as experts in group dynamics. Eva was also an articulate and passionate advocate both for the value of volunteering in a participatory democracy and for the importance of volunteer management as a set of skills. She was a prolific writer and speaker who contributed many important articles and speeches that shaped the philosophy of our field. She also changed the way we thought about "workshops" and adult education. Eva's words still resonate today.
