Answers to Subscriber Questions

We're here to help you make the most of
e-Volunteerism.
You'll find questions and tips linked in the right column. Contact us if you need further assistance.

How do I change my password or e-mail log in address?
You can change your e-mail address and password at any time by going to http://www.energizeinc.com/xmlEi/account.php You'll first need to log in with your original password and e-mail address and then change it once you have accessed the change page.

How do I know new articles are posted?
You will automatically receive an e-mail notifying you at the start of each quarterly issue (January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15) and whenever a new article is added to the site. Make sure your e-mail program accepts e-mail from evolnotice@e-volunteerism.com If you have problems receiving this notice, see the next question.

I'm not receiving the e-mail notices, what do I do?
If you are a subscriber, you are automatically placed on our list to get e-mails.

  1. We send your e-mail to the e-mail address that you use to log in to e-Volunteerism. If you want your e-mail address changed, go to http://www.energizeinc.com/xmlEi/account.php and select "Change my contact information or password."

  2. The most likely reason that you aren't receiving the e-mail is because of a spam filter. There are three places it might be filtered -- in your e-mail program, by your network administrator (if you are on a networked computer) or by the ISP you or your organization uses to access the Internet.

  • If you use an e-mail program that filters out spam, make sure to enter the e-mail address below in your "safe senders" file to make certain the e-mail notice from e-Volunteerism will be accepted and not screened out. evolnotice@e-volunteerism.com

  • If you are part of a server network that filters e-mail, make sure your administrator knows to allow this e-mail address. evolnotice@e-volunteerism.com

  • If neither of the above work, your ISP is probably filtering the e-mail. Contact us with the name of your ISP and we will try to contact them to make sure e-mail from our domain is being accepted.

How do I read past issues of e-Volunteerism?
As a subscriber, you have access to the full Archive of past issues. You can either go to the table of contents of a particular issue by clicking “Archives” in the left-hand column and then selecting the issue you want by volume and issue number or date. Or, you can click on “Index” in the left-hand column and then browse for articles by feature area, author, or topic.

How do I respond to items in e-Volunteerism?
We encourage all our subscribers to respond to e-Volunteerism articles by sharing their knowledge, questions and opinions on the topic--we like thoughtful debate, differing opinions, and real-life examples. The process is simple. In most articles, you have two ways you can respond:

1. Respond to one section at a time.
Look for the "respond" button at the end of each section within the article. Simply click on it and a page will appear where you can type your response. After you've submitted the response, and indicated whether or not you give permission for your name to appear, the browser will return you to the article where you left off. You will not need to provide your name or title since, as a subscriber, we can automatically add this information to your response.

2. Respond after you've completed the article.
At the very end of each article, there will be a link to "Respond to the Entire Article." Simply click on it and you will be shown a page where you can type your response. After you've submitted your response, the browser will take you to where you can read other people's responses.

Please note that your response will not appear instantly. It will be transmitted to our Webmaster and appear online within 48 hours.

Feel free to add a response to any article at any time! One of the wonderful benefits of an electronic publication is that all the material is read continuously. So even if it seems “after the fact,” your contribution is still of value to future readers.

How do I contribute articles or ideas?
The e-Volunteerism staff is determined to have a wide range of articles from all over the world and from practitioners as well as academics or consultants. We're confident that most of our readers have developed an expertise or have a unique perspective worth sharing with others. This vantage point could be turned into an article.

As important, we'd like to hear your ideas for additions to e-Volunteerism. Are there topics that particularly intrigue you? Is there a new service you'd like us to offer? Let our editor hear from you at editor@e-volunteerism.com. We are open to experimenting!

Have Other Questions?
As you know, e-Volunteerism is relatively new and Internet technology changes constantly. We are also dealing with readers who have many different computer systems, forms of Internet connection, types of browsers, reliability of telephone connections, etc. And this is a global publication! If you experience technical problems with anything on our site, please feel free to contact us.

Beyond access and linking problems, we would like to know if any of our instructions are unclear or if the way we have arranged and posted material doesn't work well for you. Please let us know so we can continue to improve the site. And we'd also enjoy hearing what we've done that you like, too!

Enjoy the Journal and feel free to share with us ideas for articles or sections.

Sincerely,

The e-Volunteerism Staff
