Sheri Wilensky Burke is President of Sheri Wilensky Burke Consulting LLC, offering consultation and training in volunteer management, board development and special events.  With 25 years of experience working with national non-profit organizations, her goal is to empower your organization to develop volunteer-based projects and volunteer leaders.

Before forming her own business just outside Philadelphia, PA., Burke worked at the American Lung Association National Headquarters for 12 years.  As Director, Volunteer Management & Board Development she established strategic direction and provided consultation and training in volunteer management and board development to the nationwide organization.  Prior to that, she worked for Volunteers of America’s Greater New York Branch, developing its corporate volunteer program including initiating a back-to-school clothing drive for homeless children.  Additionally, she managed a volunteer program of 1,000 volunteers at 40 program sites including ensuring the effective training, placement, and supervision of volunteers. Before that, Burke was Director, Community Development at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s New York City Chapter developing and implementing the chapter’s volunteer program for 1,200 volunteers, which included its annual walk and bike tour. Burke also marketed and coordinated the chapter's very successful volunteer young professional fundraising committee of 150 members that raised $400,000 plus annually through its six annual events.

Burke served as President of the New York Association for Volunteer Administration (NYAVA) from 2004 to 2005.  A founding Board Member of that organization, she served on its board from 1998 to 2006. She also served as a Board Member for the Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA), was a Planning Committee Member for the NYC International Year of Volunteers 2001 and is a founding member of the National Organizations Volunteerism Network (NOVN).

Burke has presented for the American Lung Association, Volunteers of America, NY Society of Association Executives (NYASE), International Conference on Volunteer Administration, Ontario Lung Association Better Breathing Conference, Big Apple Volunteerism Summit and the New York Association for Volunteer Administration.  She has written several articles for e-Volunteerism, as well as contributed to the Point of Light Foundation’s Volunteer Leadership magazine.  Burke also contributed to the book What We Learned (The Hard Way) about SUPERVISING VOLUNTEERS: An Action Guide for Making Your Job Easier. She was interviewed by WCBS-FM radio “Dialogue 101” addressing volunteerism in NYC.
