Paddy Bowen

Paddy Bowen is the executive director of Volunteer Canada, the national leader promoting volunteerism in Canada (http://www.volunteer.ca). Since 1996, her vision and hard work have helped to establish Volunteer Canada as a leading organisation of the voluntary sector in Canada.

Paddy is known for her strategic thinking on the role of volunteers in Canadian society, and is consulted regularly by governments and corporations. She is a member of the Voluntary Sector Roundtable and sits on the steering committee of the Canadian Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating.

In 2001 Volunteer Canada stepped into the national spotlight as the organisation co-led International Year of Volunteers (IYV) with the Government of Canada. Both the unbridled success of IYV, and the innovative nature of the government partnership are hallmarks of Paddy’s determination and creativity.

Recognised by the Canadian Red Cross for her outstanding achievement in the voluntary sector during IYV, Paddy’s dedication is fuelled by her passionate belief that volunteers can, and do, change the world.
