Violet Dalton

Violet Dalton has been with the National Trust for Scotland as Head of Volunteering since 2003. She is responsible for all aspects of the Trust’s volunteer programme, including strategy, training and maintaining best practice in volunteering and volunteer management. Volunteers are involved in all aspects of the charity’s work, and each year, some 3,000 people help the Trust achieve its aims and objectives. Violet Dalton has been involved in Volunteer Management for over 25 years, initially as a volunteer with the Samaritans and, for several years, the Volunteer Programme Manager for Capability Scotland, Scotland’s largest disability charity. She is a past chair of the Scottish Association of Volunteer Management (SAVM), and has been a member of national and international volunteer management committees. She is a founding member of HVOS, (Heritage Volunteer Organisers Scotland) and FEVA (the Forum for Environmental Volunteering Activity). For several years, she has been an advocate for the development of a professional body for Volunteer Managers within Scotland and/or the UK.
