Greg Baldwin (US)
Greg Baldwin joined what is now VolunteerMatch in the spring of 1998 as its Chief Imagination Officer to finish hotwiring the Internet to help everybody find a great place to volunteer. VolunteerMatch is a leader in the nonprofit world and today Baldwin is its president. Its popular web service is strengthening communities and organizations across the country by making it easier for good people and good causes to connect. Baldwin began his career at the Leo Burnett advertising agency and then became co-founder of 2d Interactive, Inc., a Boston-based technology start-up.
Baldwin completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University in 1990 with a degree in Public Policy. He is a life-long volunteer and regularly speaks at nonprofit events and conferences on the subjects of volunteering, communication, and the Internet. Joan Cardellino (US)

Violet Dalton (UK-Scotland)
Violet Dalton has been with the National Trust for Scotland as Head of Volunteering since 2003. She is responsible for all aspects of the Trust’s volunteer programme, including strategy, training and maintaining best practice in volunteering and volunteer management. Volunteers are involved in all aspects of the charity’s work, and each year, some 3,000 people help the Trust achieve its aims and objectives.
Dalton has been involved in Volunteer Management for over 25 years, initially as a volunteer with the Samaritans and, for several years, the Volunteer Programme Manager for Capability Scotland, Scotland’s largest disability charity. She is a past chair of the Scottish Association of Volunteer Management (SAVM), and has been a member of national and international volunteer management committees. She is a founding member of HVOS, (Heritage Volunteer Organisers Scotland) and FEVA (the Forum for Environmental Volunteering Activity).
For several years, she has been an advocate for the development of a professional body for Volunteer Managers within Scotland and/or the UK.
Jane Goninon (AU)
Jane Goninon has been involved in volunteer management for 15 years, first in South Australia and now in Victoria. She came to the industry after working in marketing and seeing first hand the outstanding support volunteers give to those in need in our community. Roles have involved the development and implementation of a volunteer management program for a large not-for-profit aged care organisation (The Salvation Army Inala Village), and supporting volunteers providing emergency relief for St Vincent de Paul Society. Currently her role as Volunteer Support for the Returned & Services League of Australia (Victorian Branch) Inc. includes volunteer management policy development, continuous improvement, volunteer education, welfare-related policy development to support volunteers who provide welfare, and project development. Future plans include broadening the scope of volunteer support within the RSL Victorian Branch and its Sub-Branches across Victoria.
Anne Breakey Hart, CVA (US)
Hart has worked in volunteer, nonprofit, and faith-based management for over 20 years. In her current role as an independent consultant, she works with organizations to strengthen volunteer administration competencies, enhance staff capacity, and develop youth leaders. Prior to this, she was the Director of Volunteer Services at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, where she developed a nationally recognized volunteer program for youth pursuing health care career paths. In addition, Hart has directed programs and services for marginalized youth, been a business manager, and established a nonprofit supporting family grief issues. She holds the CVA professional credential and serves on a variety of boards including the CCVA board. Prior to joining the board, Hart was the chair of the CVA peer assessment committee, consisting of active CVA practioners, for three years.
Sue Jones (UK-England)
Sue Jones is Training Manager with Volunteer Centre Warrington, leading the development and delivery of the range of learning products within their Excellence in Volunteer Management programme, including qualifications, bespoke training, workshops and e-learning. She is passionate about raising the profile of the profession and about developing volunteer managers to realise their potential.
Volunteer Centre Warrington are the Volunteer Management lead in England for the European Year of Volunteering 2011, and Jones is currently leading a team of volunteers who work as volunteer managers to help champion issues in the profession and to create a new generation of voices in the field.
Over the years, her volunteering roles have ranged from youth club committee member to dance teacher; activity organiser to overseas language tutor. She also trained as a volunteer Learning Advisor with Volunteering England's Learning Loops programme and more recently has been involved as an organiser with a local Home Educators' network.
Thomas Kegel (DE)
Thomas Kegel is CEO of the Academy for Volunteering Germany (Akademie für Ehrenamtlichkeit Deutschland—click “Profile-engl.” for translation), the first German training institution especially for volunteering, citizen engagement and honorary posts, that has been offering an extensive qualification in volunteer management since 1998. He is advisor/trainer for their training team, FreiwilligenmanagementTM.
Kegel has an extensive background as an educator, author, consultant and trainer for a range of social action and volunteer organizations. Currently he is a member of the board of publishers of the Internet magazine, www.freiwilligen-kultur.de, on the international board of Volonteurope – the European Network of Volunteer and Civic Engagement, an active volunteer for the nature conservation group BUND, and part of both the German and Berlin Networks for Civic Engagement.
Daisy McNeill
McNeill is Director of Volunteer Services at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. McNeill currently serves as president of the Board of the Association for Health Care Volunteer Resource Professional (AHVRP). McNeill can be reached at daisy.mcneill@integrisok.com.
David Styers
David Styers serves as Director of Member Education and Engagement and as a Senior Governance Consultant for BoardSource. In these positions, Styers promotes BoardSource’s work to create year-round membership engagement and educational programs and expand its network of leaders. He also directs the BoardSource Academy and certificate-generating educational programs, and directs content programming for the BoardSource Leadership Forum.
Prior to joining BoardSource, Styers served as Senior Director at the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, where he led the work to build capacity and national partnerships for more than 360 affiliate volunteer centers across the country. During his nearly eight years at Points of Light, Styers designed and conducted trainings at local, state, national, and international conferences and consulted with many nonprofits and associations across the country and around the world. His areas of expertise include board and fund development, leadership and partnership development, outcomes measurement, strategic planning, and volunteer management.
Styers serves on several boards, including as Chair of the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA), Treasurer of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), and Past President of Volunteer Alexandria.
Claire Teal (NZ)
Claire Teal began her involvement with volunteering at the age of 12 and has since volunteered with a wide variety of organisations. A qualified Social Worker, Teal has an extensive background in community youth work, community development and statutory social work. In 2006, she moved into Management of Volunteers as New Zealand’s youngest ever Citizens Advice Bureau Service Manager at the Central City branch in Wellington, New Zealand.
Teal currently holds the position of Programme Manager at Volunteering New Zealand, a role focused on developing a national initiative aimed at raising awareness of the role and value of Managers of Volunteers, and enhancing the professional development opportunities available to them. She is also Deputy Chair of Volunteer Wellington, and on the planning committee of Women in Leadership Aotearoa. In 2011, she was an invited international faculty member at the Australasian Advanced Retreat for Managers of Volunteers.
Teal has a real passion for the vital role Managers of Volunteers play in volunteer-involving organisations, and is driven by the desire to see the recognition and resourcing they are given grow and develop.
