Sam Fankuchen

Sam Fankuchen is the founder of Golden, the top-ranked mobile app for volunteering, managing volunteers, and visualizing volunteer program data. The app is a 2017 Webby Awards Honoree for Public Service & Activism.

Prior to Golden, Fankuchen was Managing Director of Applico, where he led corporate and platform business model transformations for clients like Disney, DirecTV, Google, Honeywell, HP, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, Samsung, and others. He started the Corporate Innovation Practice at Penske. At Stanford University, Fankuchen became the first Social Entrepreneurship undergraduate major, studied under IDEO Founder David Kelley at the d.School, and wrote his Master’s thesis on “Recruiting, Retaining, and Optimizing Lifetime Value of Volunteers.” Fankuchen mentors startups and social enterprises through Amplify LA, Launchpad LA, Cleantech Open, and The Haas Center for Public Service.
