Sue Hine

Seven years ago, Sue Hine left her job as a manager of volunteers. But management of volunteers has never really left her. The time interval has given her a lot of space for reflection, for blog-writing, and for generally sticking her oar in where she thought the good ship of volunteering needed a bit of a steer. The global village of online communication has allowed Hine to read about what is happening in other parts of the world, to recognise the many commonalities community and voluntary sectors face, and to sigh at the slow pace of change, particularly for managers of volunteers.

With the luxury of time and hindsight, Hine draws on her experience as a manager of volunteers, a long history of volunteering, and the knowledge-base gained from years of academic study in social work and international development.  She is still learning, and her essays represent her current thinking.
