Manon Ellis Williams

Manon Ellis Williams is Volunteer Co-ordinator for the non-profit organisation Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA, www.cafsouthernafrica.org ). She moved to South Africa in November 2002 to work with the international civil society organisation CIVICUS. Manon now works with CAFSA on developing employee community involvement programmes for local and international companies, focusing particularly on employee volunteering.

Born in Wales in 1973, Manon holds a LL.B (Hons) from the University of Wales Aberystwyth and a Legal Practice Diploma from Chester College of Law. After a shift from a career in law, Manon gained experience in volunteering development in the United Kingdom. She has previously worked as volunteering development officer for Wales Council for Voluntary Action, as development officer for a volunteering programme for older people, and as manager of a volunteer centre.

In these roles, Manon developed and delivered a range of resources on volunteer management and volunteering development. These include training courses on good practice in working with volunteers, a quality standards framework and toolkit for volunteer centres, and a handbook on risk management for volunteer programmes. She also contributed to the UK Occupational Standards for Volunteer Managers.

An active volunteer since 1989, she has volunteered with numerous organisations including a mental health advocacy scheme, a youth leadership programme, and credit unions.
